December's FREE Story

This month's free story is:  Small Wonders

A tiny fairy finally grows up and makes good.  She truly is the best story teller ever -- even though she never wanted a dragon for her symbol.  It's the dragon that finally decides how she becomes leader of her clan.

Click on the chapters one by one.  Enjoy the story!

Quick Tip:  If you click on a page as you read, it will be enlarged, and appear in crystal clear focus.  Then you can use arrow buttons on your keyboard to turn the page.

READ THE STORY before it gets changed on the 7th of each month.  Once it's gone, it might not come back -- it all depends on who's inspired to write and how many stories we are juggling.

September Art Contest

As with all contests, we had such a hard time picking the winner.  So many pictures were wonderful.  All kinds of pictures came in from children of all ages and grown ups too!  Thanks to everyone who sent in their artwork to the FIRST EVER Flip Side Fairy Tales Contest!

Here's the winning entry:

We know we'll have to divide things up by age category soon.  It's just a chance for more people to be winners.  If you didn't win this time, just keep drawing!

We'll keep having contests.  Watch for deadlines on this site.

The difference in styles is amazing.  All the pictures were so lovely, though.

What's With the Codes?

Why Do You Use Codes So Much?
The stories here are for children.  Comments, surveys and e-mails are the BEST thing we ever see from our readers.  Since we don't want any online safety problems for children who read our stories, we enjoy passing out codes.

How Can I Get a Code?
You (or your parent) can e-mail flipsideinformation@gmail.com to ask for one.  Then you comment as "Anonymous" or send an e-mail with your code in it, and we know who you are.  You can also fill out a survey and the code is entered instead of a name.  If putting real names down doesn't bother you, GREAT!  Just do that.  Otherwise, codes are pretty fun.

How Can I Get Involved?

  1. Comments on each story (just look for the word "comments" under each monthly blog post.)
  2. Survey responses (click the orange button on the left side of the website.)
  3. Ideas for cool characters or stories (click to use our e-mail address flipsideinformation@gmail.com.)
  4. Art contest entries (click this link for the dates and rules on contests for original art, and this other link for coloring contests.)

Can I Get on the E-mail List?
Do you want to get an e-mail for each month's new story?  OK.  We're always adding to our list of readers.

  • You can send a quick note to our e-mail address flipsideinformation@gmail.com
  • Or you can put in your own e-mail address on the bottom of the survey sheet.
How Do Adults Get Involved?
People with talent are always welcome.  Story writers, great editors, and illustrators can become part of the fun of entertaining children in adventurous stories.  Just e-mail flipsideinformation@gmail.com, or click on this link to see the ways we encourage each other's creativity.

Art Contest Rules

We have THREE art contests each year.
Here are the deadlines and themes:

September 30 every year:  Fairies, Flowers, and Fair Maidens
For any picture you've drawn where the main characters are magical or beautiful from "Once Upon a Time"
Basic idea:  no modern clothing.
Other standards:  winning art always has clothing a girl could wear to meet the King -- nothing too skimpy.

January 31 every year:  Dragons and White Magic
(nothing evil-looking or too scary allowed)
Drawings with male characters, monsters, and sorcerers are encouraged for this contest.  Also:  nothing too skimpy on any of the people, and nothing disgusting or gory.

May 31 every year:  Story Scenes
Illustrate a scene from one of the Flip Side stories -- be sure to say which story and which chapter.
Same standards as above:  nothing skimpy, gory, or evil-looking.
